Pieter is admitted as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand and is a Special Counsel within Shine Lawyers New Zealand. Pieter is also the Legal Practice Manager for Shine’s Auckland office.
Prior to his work in New Zealand, Pieter worked as both an advocate (barrister) of the High Court of South Africa and as an attorney (solicitor), conveyancer in South Africa, offering over 20 years’ experience in the legal arena. Pieter is also admitted as a lawyer in New South Wales.
Pieter joined Shine Lawyers in September 2019. He has a wealth of experience particularly in litigation, insurance disputes (having acted for both insurers and insured), employment disputes (including labour related Labour Court and Labour Appeal Court matters, mediations and arbitrations), general civil litigation including contract law, review proceedings of state organisations, criminal law as defence counsel (including murder, sexual assault and fraud).
